Why WooCommerce sites lose rankings and conversions
WooCommerce inherits every WordPress performance problem and adds its own: cart fragments polled on every page, block styles loaded storefront-wide, product galleries with zoom and lightbox scripts, and payment gateway SDKs that load whether or not the visitor is checking out. A shop with a few extensions can easily ship 2 MB of JavaScript on a category page.
Product SEO suffers from templates too. Variations create near-duplicate URLs, filtered and sorted category URLs get indexed, product descriptions are copied from suppliers and shared with a hundred other stores, and the structured data WooCommerce emits often lacks price, availability or review markup that the theme displays visually.
WebVitalist crawls category, product and content pages together, so you see how the shop performs as a whole – not just the homepage.
Checks
What we check on WooCommerce
On top of the standard technical, performance, accessibility and copy checks, the report looks for the problems specific to WooCommerce.
- 01 Cart fragments, block styles and gateway scripts loaded on pages that do not need them
- 02 Product schema completeness: Product, Offer, AggregateRating and availability
- 03 Indexable filtered, sorted and paginated category URLs (orderby, filter_*, /page/n)
- 04 Thin or duplicated product descriptions across products and variations
- 05 Product gallery images: size, format, alt text and layout shift
- 06 Category page titles and descriptions left on defaults
- 07 Checkout and account pages accidentally indexable or missing noindex
- 08 Add-to-cart buttons and quantity fields with proper labels and accessible names
Fix Pack · $149
How the Fix Pack works for WooCommerce
Fixes come as PHP snippets for functions.php or a site plugin (dequeue cart fragments conditionally, filter WooCommerce structured data, set noindex on filtered URLs), as settings paths in WooCommerce and your SEO plugin, and as copy rewrites for category and product pages. Snippets follow WooCommerce hooks so they survive updates.
FAQ
WooCommerce questions, answered.
How is this different from the WordPress audit?
The crawl, checks and fixes are the same, but WooCommerce stores are detected automatically and the report adds shop-specific findings: cart fragments, product schema, filtered category URLs and checkout indexing.
Do you check individual product pages?
Yes. The Deep Audit and above crawl up to 15 or 25 pages, and the crawler follows category links to product pages, so a representative set of products is checked and compared.
Can you audit a WooCommerce store with thousands of products?
We sample: the homepage, main categories and the products linked from them. The site-wide issues we find (templates, scripts, schema) apply to every product, so the fixes scale even though the crawl is capped.
