Why Framer sites lose rankings and conversions
Framer publishes sites as React applications, which means every page hydrates a JavaScript bundle before interactions, effects and CMS content become live. Sites with many scroll animations, component variants and embedded code components can spend a second or more in Total Blocking Time on a mid-range phone, even though first paint is quick.
SEO is mostly handled in Framer’s page settings, and that is the problem: titles and descriptions are set per page and per CMS collection, and pages cloned during design keep the original’s metadata. Framer generates canonicals and a sitemap, but CMS detail pages often inherit a generic title, and Open Graph images are missing unless set explicitly. Images uploaded to Framer are optimised, while images referenced from external URLs are not.
WebVitalist measures your published site on a mobile device, checks every page it crawls for metadata and structure, and phrases fixes for the Framer editor and site settings.
Checks
What we check on Framer
On top of the standard technical, performance, accessibility and copy checks, the report looks for the problems specific to Framer.
- 01 Hydration cost: JavaScript payload, Total Blocking Time and INP on mobile
- 02 Scroll effects, appear animations and component variants on landing pages
- 03 Per-page and CMS collection titles, descriptions and Open Graph images
- 04 Cloned pages carrying the original page’s metadata
- 05 External images not passing through Framer’s optimisation
- 06 Custom code (head/body) embeds such as chat and analytics blocking render
- 07 Sitemap coverage, canonicals and redirects in Site settings
- 08 Accessible names on icon buttons and links built as design components
Fix Pack · $149
How the Fix Pack works for Framer
Fixes map to Framer’s UI: the page settings panel for titles, descriptions and social images, CMS collection field bindings for dynamic metadata, Site settings → General for custom head code and redirects, and design changes for animation-heavy sections. HTML and JSON-LD snippets are provided for the custom code fields.
FAQ
Framer questions, answered.
Can you audit a Framer site on a framer.app or framer.website domain?
Yes, as long as it is published. The report flags staging domains in canonicals so you can check them after connecting a custom domain.
Why does my Framer site feel fast but score poorly on Lighthouse?
Framer paints quickly but hydrates a React bundle afterwards. Lighthouse penalises the blocking time and layout shifts during hydration, which users on slower phones also feel. The report shows which pages and sections carry the cost.
Do you check Framer CMS pages?
Yes. CMS detail pages are crawled through the links on your listing pages and checked for metadata inherited from the collection template.
