What Is a Free Website Score? Check Your Website in Seconds

A free website score is a quick health check for one public web page. It helps you spot common technical problems before you spend time or money fixing them. These checks can include page titles, meta descriptions, headings, canonical tags, robots directives, and related HTML signals.

WebVitalist gives you a free technical diagnosis by fetching one public page and running 19 deterministic checks. You get a technical score, platform detection, and the three most important issues found on that page. There is no credit card, email, or Lighthouse run required. Results for the same URL may be cached for up to six hours.

Core Web Vitals vs Lighthouse: what is the difference?

Core Web Vitals are Google’s user-experience metrics for loading, responsiveness, and visual stability. The main metrics are Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), Interaction to Next Paint (INP), and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS). When enough Chrome user data exists for a site, field data can show how real users experienced it.

Lighthouse is a lab test that runs a page in a controlled mobile setup. It produces a performance score and checks areas such as accessibility, best practices, and SEO. A Lighthouse score is useful for finding opportunities, but it is not the same as real-user data and it does not guarantee search rankings.

The free WebVitalist scan is not Lighthouse and does not show Core Web Vitals. If you need those measurements, a paid report adds mobile Lighthouse through Google PageSpeed Insights and includes Core Web Vitals when Google has enough field data.

How to check your website score

  1. Open the free WebVitalist scanner.
  2. Paste the full URL of a public page, including https://.
  3. Start the scan and review your technical score and top three issues.
  4. Fix the highest-impact items first, then scan again when you want to check the page.

The page must be reachable over HTTPS without a login. Localhost, intranet addresses, paywalls, geo-blocks, and some client-only pages may not be available to an anonymous fetch. Try the free scan before paying; if WebVitalist cannot analyse a paid run on its side, its refund policy applies.

What is free, and what does paid add?

The free scan is designed to give you a useful starting point: one page, technical SEO checks, platform detection, and a short list of issues. It does not include Lighthouse, an AI review, a copy review, or the detailed fixes.

A paid Audit adds mobile Lighthouse, Core Web Vitals where available, accessibility checks, a Security Pass, copy and conversion feedback with evidence from the page, and a practical 30-day action plan. The report is emailed, usually within minutes. A Deep Audit can crawl up to 15 same-origin pages and identify issues across a small site. Paid reports start at $9; check the current pricing before purchase.

A better score is not a promise of higher rankings, more traffic, or more sales. Use the score to choose sensible fixes and measure progress over time.

FAQ

Is the WebVitalist website score checker free?

Yes. The free scan checks one public page, runs 19 technical checks, detects the platform where possible, and shows the top three issues. No credit card or email is required.

Is a free website score the same as a Lighthouse score?

No. The free WebVitalist scan is a technical HTML diagnosis, not a Lighthouse run. Paid reports add mobile Lighthouse through Google PageSpeed Insights and Core Web Vitals when Google has enough field data.

How do I check my website score?

Paste the HTTPS URL of a public page into the WebVitalist scanner and start the scan. Review the score and top issues, then fix them and scan again later.

What does a paid WebVitalist report include?

A paid report adds mobile Lighthouse, available Core Web Vitals, technical checks, accessibility, a Security Pass, evidence-based copy and UX feedback, and a 30-day plan. A Deep Audit covers up to 15 same-origin pages.

Will a higher website score improve my Google ranking?

Not necessarily. WebVitalist does not promise rankings, traffic, or revenue. Core Web Vitals are one signal among many, and a Lighthouse score is not a ranking guarantee.
