Free scan · Squarespace
Check one Squarespace page for technical issues
Paste one public URL into the free scan. It fetches that page, runs the technical checks, and shows a score with the most important issues.
A Squarespace label is applied when the fetched HTML matches a Squarespace signal such as squarespace.com or static1.squarespace.com.
19 deterministic technical checks on one public page. The full text of the top 3 issues is shown. No account.
On this page
What the free scan can flag
The scan fetches that one page, plus robots.txt and a sitemap for the host. It does not crawl the rest of the site. CSS background images are not counted as images.
Page title
The title check fails when the title element is missing and warns when the length is outside the range it accepts.
Fail: no <title>. Warn: shorter than 30 or longer than 65 characters.
Meta description
The check fails when the meta description is missing and warns when the length is outside the range it accepts.
Fail: no meta description. Warn: shorter than 70 or longer than 165 characters.
H1 heading
The check fails when the page has no H1 and warns when there is more than one. It reads the H1 elements in the fetched HTML.
Fail: no H1. Warn: more than one H1.
Canonical
A canonical that still points at a squarespace.com hostname does not match a custom domain. The check warns when the canonical is missing or the hostname differs.
Warn: no canonical link, or the canonical points at a different domain.
Image alt text
The check counts img elements that have no alt attribute.
Fail: more than 30 % of images lack an alt attribute. Warn: some images lack one.
HTML size
The check warns when the HTML document exceeds its size limit. Inline markup counts toward that size.
Warn: the HTML document is larger than 400 kB.
Server response time
The check records how long the server took to deliver the HTML and warns when that is over its limit.
Warn: the server took longer than 1,500 ms to deliver the HTML.
Structured data
The check warns when the fetched page has no JSON-LD @type. It does not judge whether that type is complete.
Warn: no JSON-LD found.
What you get back
A technical score for that URL, and a platform label when the public HTML matches Squarespace signals such as squarespace.com or static1.squarespace.com. A completed scan of the same normalized URL is reused when it is strictly younger than 6 hours. If the site does not respond, the scan stops after 8 seconds.
